Victory! Community members put pressure on Iowa Select and won!

We are excited to tell you a bit of good news: Iowa Select has withdrawn their permit application for a new hog factory farm in Howard County!

Iowa Select, the state's largest pork producer, had requested to build on alluvial soil, which is legal but poses unnecessary threats to our already impaired waterways.

CCI members, members of the community and the Socially Responsible Agriculture Project (SRAP) organized together to stop this 2,490 hog confinement from being built. People power won this fight, we all put in the work to ensure this community wouldn't have to sacrifice their health, property value, or quality of life to greedy corporate agriculture.

You can read our press release on this win here for more information.

If you hear of a proposal for a new factory farm or an expansion near you, please reach out to us. We are stronger together and we do not have to let corporate ag destroy more of our beautiful state.
