A 2015 dedicated to No Bakken!
2015 is drawing to a close and we’re feeling extra thankful for all of your hard work to stop the Bakken Pipeline. The fight is really just heating up, but here are some of our favorite moments from the past year!
A big win at the Statehouse: Senate File 506, which will put tougher protections for landowners in the pipeline’s path in place and would effectively kill the pipeline, passed out of committee in the Senate. We will be pushing for similar legislation in 2016.
Thousands of objections! The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB), who have the final say on the pipeline, have received thousands of objections to the pipeline. One of our favorite deliveries involved our allies from the Food Sovereignty Alliance – we delivered over 1,000 objections on that day.
Boone County supervisors passed a unanimous resolution opposing the pipeline thanks to local residents and other pipeline fighters standing up for clean energy! This was the only resolution of its kind to pass in the state - thanks to your hard work!
150 of you dedicated your time and energy on Nov. 12 at the IUB’s public hearing to make it clean Iowans will not stand for the pipeline.
A small team of members met with the Army Corps of Engineers which has led us to a key next step in winning this fight – challenging the Army Corps permits the pipeline needs through EPA region 7.
One hundred of you stood up for a Clean Energy Iowa at the Iowa DNR's public hearing on the Sovereign Lands Permit for the Bakken Pipeline!
Stay tuned for the next steps in 2016!
