Four Demands for Clean Water

Factory farm manure polluters are not being held accountable. We need clean water. Here are some ways to get there!

Clean Water Demands

Permits: The DNR has failed to issue a single Clean Water Act permit since the workplan was passed in September of 2011. It's time to use the workplan we fought hard to inact!

Fines and Penalties: The DNR continues to give polluters a slap on the wrist in a Notice of Violation, instead of an Administrative Order. They're not even collecting on the fines they do issue. It's time to hit these polluters in the once place they care about, their pocketbooks!

Inspections: The DNR continues to say that they're underfunded and that's keeping them from completing the quality factory farm inspections they need to be doing. The DNR also continues to allow desktop surveys which are an inadequate way of inspecting factory farms. This is unacceptable and they need to do their jobs!

Database: We continue to search for a "needle in a haystack" when it comes to DNR records. Their current databases have inaccurate information, contradict one another, and lack important details. There should be no secrets when it comes to who's polluting OUR water!
