This team member works daily with our email program, social media channels, digital advocacy tools, and website in a rapid response environment.
We aren’t looking for someone to just post interesting updates on Facebook – we’re looking for someone who’s eager to create and execute ambitious plans to advance issues and narratives, win campaigns, grow membership and build a powerful grassroots movement.
The ideal candidate is an excellent editor and a quick, persuasive writer who doesn’t flinch at deadlines. They are obsessively detail-oriented, flexible, and able to dig in on analytics to assess what works. They are a digital native who knows how to engage authentically and creatively on social media platforms to cover events, connect with the news, and bring people into the work. They should be comfortable juggling multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
Most of all, they should have a strong desire to help shape the way people view the world, get people to act, and help CCI grow. A sense of humor is a must!
About Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement
Iowa CCI is the largest progressive community organization in the state. We fight against the corrupting influence of big money in politics and organize to put People and Planet First in Iowa.
We’re a forward-thinking, agenda-setting, speak-truth-to-power community organizing group that knows how to mobilize lots of everyday people to stand up for what’s right and put pressure where it needs to be put to win policies that put People and Planet first. For more than 45 years, our mission has been simple: help everyday people be a powerful force for justice.
Our current organizing campaigns include: fighting for Iowa’s clean water and to stop factory farms, racial justice and a ban on racial profiling, a Green New Deal and 100% clean energy, immigrant and workers right, Medicare for All including ending the state’s privatization of Medicaid, and electoral work to change “business as usual” politics and put our leaders in office.
Our thousands of dues-paying members across the state believe you don’t have to stand by and just let things happen, which is why we’re growing so much. We view this troublesome time as a clear call to action and an opportunity to build political power to shape the Iowa we want and need to see.
